FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between Fine Gardening and Ecological Services?
Fine Gardening focuses on cultivated landscapes — gardens, courtyards, and refined residential or commercial spaces that benefit from ongoing care, subtle improvements, and thoughtful renovation. Ecological Services apply the same philosophy at a larger scale, managing meadows, woodlands, and natural areas with a focus on balance and long-term health.
How often do you visit a property?
Visit frequency depends on the landscape’s needs and your expectations for appearance. Most fine gardening clients receive weekly or biweekly care; larger ecological sites may be managed seasonally.
Do you offer design services?
Yes — within the context of stewardship and renovation. Land Ethic designs projects that evolve from direct observation and an understanding of each site, rather than from abstract plans detached from the land.
What areas do you serve?
Land Ethic is based in Savannah, Georgia, and serves the surrounding coastal region — including private estates, residential gardens, commercial properties and larger rural properties throughout the Coastal Empire.
Do you use pesticides or synthetic fertilizers?
Sometimes. The goal is always to build resilient, self-sustaining systems through soil health, plant selection, and balance — reducing the need for chemical intervention as much as possible.
Can you take over an existing garden?
Yes. Many clients hire Land Ethic to adopt and improve existing gardens, restoring health, coherence, and ongoing management where needed.
What does an ecological stewardship plan include?
A site-specific schedule of seasonal mowing, clearing, and prescribed burns (where appropriate), along with selective planting and monitoring — all aimed at maintaining a dynamic but stable ecosystem.
Do you manage installation projects?
Yes. Land Ethic manages all aspects of installation for renovation or restoration projects — coordinating design, sourcing, and construction with an emphasis on craftsmanship and horticultural integrity.
How do I begin working with Land Ethic?
The first step is a consultation. During the visit, we’ll walk the property together, discuss your goals, and determine an appropriate level of service and schedule.
