fine Gardening

-Stewardship

Comprehensive, ongoing care of your garden and grounds in every season. Frequent visits with a meticulous eye for the little things means everything is always as it should be.

-Refinement

Targeted improvements to enhance both form and function. Each project subtly and strategically guides the inevitable change of your space towards its greatest potential.

-Renovation

When it’s time for larger changes, Land Ethic can handle all of the design, planning and installation. Anything from renewing a hedge to completely transforming an area is handled with craftsmanship and an understanding of how people actually live in and enjoy their space.

Ecological Services

-Stewardship

Well timed seasonal care for larger landscapes and natural areas to keep things from getting out of hand. Selective mowing, clearing, and burning can be the key to maintaining balance and keeping meadows, woodlands and other habitats healthy.

-Rehabilitation

Focused work to repair or strengthen existing systems. Thoughtful intervention in soils, hydrology or vegetation brings vitality and stability back to degraded areas.

-Restoration

When a space has lost its natural character or function, Land Ethic manages complete rebuilds of ecological systems. Meadow establishment, woodland renewal, erosion control and stormwater management are all handled with a measured hand and an eye towards resilience.

Land Ethic is Alexander Cameli. It is born from a drive to practice gardening as an art form and make the world a more beautiful and lively place.

After growing up in lush Atlanta, Georgia, Alexander attended the University of Georgia, where he studied how humans interact with their environment and earned a degree in Horticulture. In the course of these studies, and for years after, he travelled extensively in North America and Europe observing natural ecology and always finding the nearest garden to get lost in. From Boboli in Florence, Monet’s garden in Giverny, Sissinghurst in Kent, Longwood in Pennsylvania, to Filoli in California he has absorbed styles from throughout history and the world. In his personal gardening, he finds the Arts and Crafts style of turn of the century Britain most closely manifested. Since 2021, he has managed the installation of the finest gardens in Savannah with Victory Gardens, and has mastered the local flora, soils, and climate of the Georgia lowcountry, as well as the techniques of landscape construction and management at any scale.

His next endeavor is yours.
